I am Joseph Mattus, an artist specializing in portraiture, still life painting, and drawing. I strive to produce aesthetically beautiful paintings by first creating a precise drawing, then transferring the drawing to canvas where I develop what the Grand Central Academy calls a “sculpturally convincing ” form painting. Finally, the color stage brings the piece to life.
In my five year study at the Grand Central Atelier I studied under Jacob Collins, Scott Waddell, Colleen Berry, Joshua LaRock, Edward Minoff, Justin Wood, Will St. John, and Devin Cecil Wishing. My personal style and skills have also been cultivated while attending influential workshops with Douglas Flynt and Marvin Mattleson. In addition, I have also acquired my BFA from University of the Arts.
After study in New York City my wife and I settled in Orlando Florida where I sell my work to collectors and by online purchase. Please enjoy exploring my website. If you are interested in buying a painting, learning my process, or would like to contact me just visit my contact page. I look forward to hearing from you.
